<hi style=afpcap>Prior to the jet engined Bell X-14 being developed, the company had experimented with a propeller driven tilting rotor design as the XV-3 with two examples being funded in 1954. As can be seen the aircraft was an unusual shape with the fuselage being constructed with several large windows. The design was nothing if not radical, although the project proceeded no further than the experimental stage. </hi>
